Morphine Love Dion, who rose to fame on season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, was injured in an LA car crash in the early hours of Sunday, 21 July.

The news broke on Monday afternoon, when the following statement was shared to Morphine’s official Instagram Story: “Morphine was in a serious car accident while in an Uber. She suffered multiple injuries but is grateful to be alive.

“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Some space and time is appreciated as she focuses on healing.”

According to reporting by Entertainment Weekly, Morphine was involved in a fatal incident in LA’s Jefferson Park area.

At approximately 3.30am, the California Highway Patrol initially responded to a solo crash in the 10 freeway in the Jefferson Park area. However, other cars crashed at the scene, creating a multi-vehicle pile-up.

Six individuals, including the drag artist, were taken to hospital and one individual has sadly passed away from injuries sustained during the crash.

Morphine was travelling in an Uber alongside Canada’s Drag Race star Kaos, with both drag artists being in the area to perform at RuPaul’s DragCon LA

Kaos also took to her Instagram Story to address the incident, writing; “Just so everyone knows I am ok just been on bed rest. I will be making a post explaining what happened this weekend once I am in the right headspace and also can explain it all and the accident.

“For now resting and sorry won’t be posting any dragcon stuff right now either that will come later prob next week!”

Our thoughts are with Morphine and Kaos as well as their family, friends and fans.
