Attention Dragula fans! A release date for season five has finally been revealed.
Since 2016, drag fans have sunk their teeth into the spooky and sickening competition show created and hosted by The Boulet Brothers (Dracmorda and Swanthula).
In the series, talented groups of drag artists compete in various horror-themed challenges to win a cash prize and the title of the ‘World’s Next Drag Supermonster.’
On 16 August 2022, nearly a year after the release of season four, the Boulet Brothers announced their new multi-project deal with AMC networks’ horror-centered streaming service, Shudder.
“This is an incredibly exciting time to be a Dragula fan. This new partnership with Shudder (and the AMC family) provides an incredible opportunity for us to expand our cinematic universe and to flesh out all of the characters, stories, and stars that audiences have fallen in love with over the years,” the Boulet Brothers wrote in a statement.
In addition to a new set of projects, the exciting announcement confirmed that Dragula would be returning for a fifth season.
After a year of terrifying silence, the Boulet Brothers have returned with an exciting update on the show’s highly anticipated premiere date.
On 19 September, the two announced that the new season would make its grand debut on All Hallows Eve (31 October).
In an additional press release, the drag duo described the forthcoming episodes as the franchise’s “biggest and baddest yet”.

“We have crafted four seasons of the main show at this point and just wrapped our first all stars season with The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans spin-off, and we consider all of that part of ‘Chapter 1’ of the Dragula story,” Dracmorda said in a press release.
“With season 5, we are beginning a new and innovative new chapter of the show, and we’ve retooled and updated the format in an exciting way.”
The two talents then revealed that they directed the new season and brought on “some incredibly talented new team members” who helped elevate the show’s look.
“We’re going back to basics with the format and focusing on the competition element of the show, the incredible artists that we’ve cast and the out-of-this-world looks they create each week, and of course, drag artists doing insanely terrifying and shocking physical challenges on TV,” Swanthula explained.
While the pair refrained from revealing the new cast of queens, Swanthula hinted that they were “the most impressive drag artists” she had ever seen on-screen.
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula season five is also set to feature The Haunting of Bly Manor creator Mike Flanagan, Dune star David Dastmalchian, author Tannanarive Due, music talent Jazmin Bean and Scream’s Matthew Lillard as guest judges.
Lastly, season three winner Landon Cider will return as the show’s first-ever recurring judge, with other Dragula alums Victoria Elizabeth Black and Koco Caine also appearing.
