Every year it’s a struggle to think what to buy everyone, so we asked some stylish men what they wanted in hopes it would spark some inspiration.
“Six months after my last watch died (perfectly timed by its manufacturer to occur just after the warranty period ended) I still find myself looking at my naked wrist to check the time – I’d like this Nomos watch. Elegantly minimal but stylishly detailed. And at this price it’s better be accurate to the nanosecond,” says Matthew.
“I’m one leather jacket into a midlife crisis but crave a tan leather one. I saw a vintage jacket in a store in New York two years ago, but even with a favourably strong pound (at the time) and a hefty haggle it was going to be over £1,800. So I gave it a miss. This Loveless one would go some way to easing that crisis…”
“I would love these Gucci novel fringed loafers because I think they’re chic but also a little quirky,” Jordan, 24, tells us. “They’d look great with denim, tailoring or even some smart joggers for that sports luxe look. Overall I just really, really like them so to anyone reading this… please, please put shoes on my feet this year.
“The Cav Empt Noise Backpack in black and white would go down a treat also. Typically I go for leather bags but the print motif is really eye catching but also wearable because its monochrome. For me it has the Swedish feel to it, which I really like as I do look to a lot of Swedish bloggers for style Inspo. It’s usually clean, simple pieces with the occasional twist with clever use of prints.
“If you’re feeling generous then the floral skull ring by Werkstatt:Munchen in brassy gold too – I love gothic rings and this one really takes the biscuit. I’m not a huge ring wearer because I think I have horrible hands BUT, I’d definitely wear this one with smug pride. Its also probably the closest thing I’d get to an engagement ring as I am at present set to die alone.”
“I’m not necessarily one for big bags – it means I have to carry them, but I have an array of tote bags so I can throw in my daily essentials and still have room to throw some in some groceries on the way home from the office,” says David. “This Saint Laurent bag combines luxury with practicality – the perfect gift.
“Nothing is more festive than sparkle… So what better for the festive season than these glittered loafers from Jimmy Choo to brighten up even the glummest of festive weather.”
Iain tells us: “I’m in desperate need of an oversized coat, you have the option of layering if it’s really cold or just throwing it over your shoulders if it’s mild. Camel is always a safe bet, you can dress it up if need be or style it with a pair of blue jeans and some Chelsea boots. Sorted.
“This AMI jumper which will go with anything, I’m not into busy print so a plain jumper is always perfect. Throw it on over a t-shirt and you’re good to go.
“This Stampd hoodie looks SO comfortable, I love a baggy hoodie you can chill in at home. I bet it feels like you’r being hugged by a giant teddy bear, what’s not to love?”
“I’d love the Reiss Gallivant suitcase, because I saw this in store and it was the sharpest looking carry-on piece I’ve seen,” says Bennett. “Perfect size and quality and a little bit more affordable than the Globetrotter brand on Mr.Porter.
“I’ve just recently started religiously using these three Kiehls products every night and saw results instantly and could always use a stock supply of them. Before bed I cleanse my face with the Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser to remove a day’s worth of city air gunk, then I use Age Defender Eye Repair around my eyes and crows feet and Age Defender Moisturizer on my face and neck.
“As far as men’s footwear goes it can get pretty boring, so I’d love a pair like these Santoni monkstrap ones that are a bit different to everything else I own, although for the price I’d stick with a safe classic pair I can dress up with suits as well as down for casual style.”
