SPOIL THEM!
If you’re looking for the big-ticket present to really treat that loved one, then we’ve got you covered…
Whether you want to become a Jedi knight in Star Wars: Battlefront II, or navigate a world overrun with robots with your bow and arrow in Horizon Zero Dawn, you can do it all on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Essentially you can live your best #gaymer life. What’s more, with the newly-launched PlayLink feature you can hook up your smartphones as controllers for some multiplayer mayhem.
Take Hidden Agenda, for example, where players use their phones to determine the outcome of a story as it plays out on screen, but at the same time have to seek out the person in the room who has been set the – you guessed it – hidden agenda to skew the story a certain way.
BEATS WIRELESS STUDIO3 – £299.99
The Beats Studio range is the company’s original product. It’s the model that made premium over-ear headphones the must-have accessory, and defined an era where nearly every music video boasted a pair. However, now that Apple owns the company they’ve incorporated their own technology into the Beats Wireless Studio3 headphone for some seriously awesome features, including incredible noise cancellation capabilities, impressive Bluetooth connectivity over distance, and even an option to activate Siri.
BRAUN SERIES 5 SHAVER – £199.99
There was a time when men had to make do with a razor, bar of soap, and a steady hand to try and achieve the perfect shave. Well that’s firmly in the past now, especially upon the introduction of Braun’s new series 5 shaver. The USP? Using real time data, the built-in AutoSense technology automatically reads the differences in beard density along the neck, cheeks and jaw. That means the shaver will adjust and adapt its power accordingly to achieve a consistent shave all over. That’s even less you need to concentrate on in the morning now.
Selfies are not just for Instagram anymore. The Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic is an instant camera that packs plenty of features into its very stylish casing, meaning you can have those selfies pinned up on your wall or placed into that scrapbook after the click of a button.
SOMETHING A LITTLE EXTRA…
So you’ve sorted the big splashy present, but maybe you’re thinking there’s always room for one more little gift under the tree. Go on, treat him. He’s been good this year…
Earlier this year, luxury men’s skincare range LQD finally made its way to the UK. Founded in Australia by gay couple Anthony McDonough and Chris Gelabatsas, LQD products are packed with anti-irritants, anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging peptides. The face wash in particular is perfect for men with sensitive skin, leaving the face feeling clean but not uncomfortably tight like some over skincare products. Add to the fact it has been created with the purest grade active ingredients, and isn’t tested on animals, it’s the new face wash you didn’t know you needed in your life.
GARCON MODEL MIRAMAR BRIEF: GOLD COLLECTION – £23
If you’re going to give the gift of new underwear this year, then why not make them gold? When we say gold, we mean in the detail of course. Garcon Model’s Gold range pair simple, comfortable, and incredibly well-fitted designs with a Greco-Roman flair that makes them a bit different from your average briefs without being too garish.
THE APPLETON ESTATE RARE BLEND 12 YEAR OLD RUM – £35
It isn’t Christmas without a tipple or two, so what better offering than the gift of rum? Those three wise kings missed a trick there. The Appleton Estate Rare Blend 12 Year Old is exactly what it says on the label: a combination of rare golden rums that have all been aged for a minimum of 12 years. Expect a smooth robust taste following its years on tropical ageing and rich mahogany hue. Who needs a slanket when you have this to warm your cockles as the temperatures plummet this festive season.
If your other half is more of a bourbon bae, then a bottle of Old Forester will do the trick. First created by George Gavin Brown in 1870 in Louisville, it is a whisky recognised by top bartenders across the world. Whether you want to drink it neat or whip out your cocktails skills by pulling together a Whisky Smash, Old Forester prides itself on being perfect for people who are new to whisky drinking.
SNAKEHIVE BIFOLD WALLET – £29.95
Along with a new clean-eating plan, new gym regime, and plenty of new year’s resolutions, January is also the best time to refresh that worn-down wallet. This suede bifold number has been created by high-end British phone case and accessories brand Snakehive. The full grain nubuck leather has been gently sanded to give it a quality finish, making it a chic solution to storing all of those debit and credit cards. Not that much will be left on them after the big Christmas spend.
THE CHRISTMAS DAY MOVIE
Let’s face it, if we’re going to watch a movie these days it’s going to be on Netflix/Amazon Prime Video/NOW TV. But as good as the selections are, they are not totally up to date. That’s why a DVD/Blu-ray for Christmas day is a right ole treat when you’re feeling sleepy after dinner. It also helps that it’s the ‘perfect stocking filler’.
SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING (BLU-RAY) – £18.99
Tom Holland steps into the role of Peter Parker for this latest reboot, which is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The British actor adds a peppy, fun energy to the franchise, as he sets out to impress Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man. Obviously, nothing goes to plan and Spidey finds himself facing off against The Vulture. This is a must-watch ahead of the release of mega movie Avengers: Infinity War next year, as Spider-Man will be back with all of our favourite heroes to challenge the most dangerous villain yet.
TOM OF FINLAND (BLU-RAY/DVD) – £14.99
Acclaimed Finnish director Dome Karukosi adapted the true life story of iconic artist Touko Laaksonen, whose work helped usher in the gay movement in the mid 20th century. After serving his country in World War II, Touko returned to Finland at a time when homosexuality was still illegal. However, while working in an advertisement agency, the artist began drawing muscular, explicit, and proud gay men, which would go on to become legendary pieces under his guise of Tom of Finland.
GAME OF THRONES SEASON SEVEN (BLU-RAY) – £34.99
If there’s one television series from 2017 you should re-watch over Christmas, it’s the epic seventh run of Game Of Thrones. Those dragons are massive now, but the clashes between Westeros’ most powerful figures are even bigger. Heck, if you’ve got plenty of time off, snap up the seasons 1-7 boxset and relive the whole thing. Winter is here, after all.
