Bros stars Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane have revealed that the movie almost had a rimming scene complete with a “$30,000 butt rig”.
The film was marketed as the first gay romantic comedy released by a major studio, with Eichner making history as the first openly gay man to co-write and star in one.
It focuses on two gay men, played by Eichner and Luke Macfarlane, who, according to Universal, “maybe, possibly, probably stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.”
All of the principal heterosexual roles are played by openly LGBTQ+ actors and actresses, with its cast including the likes of TS Madison, Monica Raymund and Guillermo Díaz.
Discussing the sex scenes in Bros, Eichner said there “were certain positions we thought might be funny.”
“We were right about some of those, we were wrong about some of those,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “And all of a sudden, you know, out of nowhere, Luke will take your foot and put it in his face and you go from there.”
He also revealed that there were X-rated moments that got cut from the final edit of the film, including “some spitting”.
Director Nick Stroller shared that “there was a $30,000 butt rig Aaron goes down on” which went unused.
“We were going to shoot a rim job moment, but then The White Lotus beat us to the punch, so we cut that,” Eichner added.
Macfarlane then jokingly recalled trying to put his mouth on the contraption while “two puppeteers” operated it.
