Legend of Zelda: Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer reacts to fans casting her as the titular princess

Euphoria star Hunter Schafer has shared her thoughts on those Legend of Zelda fan castings. 

On 7 November, Deadline reported that Sony Pictures and Nintendo would be teaming up for a live-action film based on the popular video game series.

According to the publication, Wes Ball, the director of The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, has signed on to direct the film, with Derek Connolly writing the script. 

Shortly after the news made headlines, fans flocked to social media to pitch their favourite actors for the film, including Schafer as the titular princess. 

One fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote: “There’s only one answer for Princess Zelda, and that’s Hunter Schafer.”

Another fan echoed similar sentiments, writing: “Hunter Schafer as Zelda is seriously one of the best fan casts LOOK AR HER.”

On 9 November, Schafer broke her silence on fans casting her as the beloved character during an interview with Variety. 

“I love the game, personally. I played it as a kid, and I still play it now. Who knows! That would be pretty cool,” she told the news outlet. 

While the jury is out on whether Schafer will land the role of Princess Zelda, the 24-year-old talent has an array of projects lined up, including her starring role in the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ novel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the movie is set to follow a young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) and his relationship with Hunger Games tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler).

Schafer is playing Tigris Snow, the cousin and confidant of Coriolanus.

In addition to The Hunger Games film, the young talent has also signed on to star in A24’s pop music drama, Mother Mary, alongside Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.

The upcoming project follows a musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an “iconic fashion designer” (Coel).

According to Deadline, Schafer is set to play Hilda, the assistant to Coel’s character.

Here’s to hoping that the Euphoria talent will be cast in the new The Legend of Zelda live-action film.
