Three-time Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal is rumoured to play Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, as the leader in the Fantastic Four.
The beloved actor, known for his standout roles in The Last Of Us and The Mandalorian, is on the cards to join the iconic superhero franchise.
According to Deadline, negotiations are underway as the actor’s busy line-up of upcoming films is being considered.
Pascal’s movie schedule is, unsurprisingly, booked and busy with Gladiator 2 due to start production later this year, while the second season of critically acclaimed HBO series The Last Of Us is due to start production in early 2014. And, that’s not all, Pascal is also set to appear in Zach Cregger’s multistory horror epic Weapons.
As the rumours of Reed Richard’s casting continue to circulate, here’s what we definitely do know.
Matt Shakman, the director of WandaVision, is making the movie and renowned sci-fi screenwriter Josh Friedman will be writing the script. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will be joining onboarding the movie as a producer.
Although casting for Pascal is not yet confirmed – although we are hopeful! – we can expect other casting choices to be revealed soon after.
Earlier this year, Pascal starred in Strange Way of Life which was directed by Pedro Almodóvar.
Described as his “answer to Brokeback Mountain,” Pascal takes on the role of a gunslinger named Silva, with Ethan Hawke stepping into the role of a Sherrif named Jake.
“One of them travels through the desert to find the other. There will be a showdown between them, but really the story is very intimate,” Almodóvar explained to Indie Wire.
