Ariana Grande has once again voiced support for her LGBTQ fans.

Outside the singer’s sold-out Sweetener World Tour concert in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday 8 June, a homophobic protester appeared with an anti-Pride sign and a speaker, telling fans: “God wants you to repent.”

In response to a video of the incident posted to Twitter, Ariana expressed disappointment in the protester’s actions, saying she was “so sorry” people had to see it happen, but also praised her fans for not resorting to violence.

“Man… saddened but not surprised by this one bit,” she wrote.

“I’m so sorry any of my fans had to encounter this. We will do our best to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Proud of u all for not fighting / engaging violently. Never worth it. Wishing him peace & a healed heart cause girl yikes.”

In another pair of tweets, Ariana added: “He is highly outnumbered. You are all so celebrated and loved and safe… also, he was doing the Be Alright choreo[graphy] in his garage later that night, I promise.”

The American singer recently sparked interest over her sexuality after the release of her new song, Monopoly, which features the lyric, “I like women and men”. The track is a duet with fellow artist and friend Victoria Monet, who came out as bisexual last year.

Shortly after the song’s release, a fan tweeted, “ariana ain’t gotta label herself, but she said what she said,” to which the star responded: “I haven’t before and still don’t feel the need to now, which is okay.”
