Big Brother star Brian Dowling has revealed he received homophobic abuse for being a gay parent, after his first child was born.
Dowling and his husband Arthur Gourounlian’s welcomed their child, who they named Blake Maria Rose Dowling Gourounlian.
Blake was born on 1 September.
The reality TV star and presenter has opened up about his parenting journey on social media, which has led to online anti-gay abuse.
Dowling shared a comment he received in response to a story of him trying to settle his child.
“She’s [sic] wants her mother,” the comment read.
Dowling stated: “Messages like this make me sad but also so very angry.”
“Arthur and I get messages like this rather often. I’m not sure if the people sending them are ignorant or just plain vile”.
Brian’s husband, Arthur, also shared the post and added: “Yes there are always messages like this in our DM’s, but hey it’s life, and you just have to rise above it and move on.”
“There will always be uneducated and rude people out there,” he concluded.
The couple wed in 2015 and welcomed the baby after Dowling’s sister Aoife was their surrogate.
The 44-year-old called his sister a “saint” and added they will always be grateful to her “for the rest of our lives.”
