Heartstopper actor Sebastian Croft has collaborated with Everpress to raise money for Choose Love and LGBTQ+ charity Rainbow Railroad.
The two have released a T-shirt together with a heartfelt ‘Queer was always here’ message printed on it.
Designed by Kieran Blakey, it shows two animals kissing in front of some heart-shaped foliage and its proceeds will be donated to the organisations.
Croft and his Heartstopper co-star, Kit Connor, wore the tee to Pride in London earlier this year.
They rose to fame after appearing in the series, which was met with critical acclaim and viewed for more than 23,940,000 hours during its first full week on Netflix.
“Often being queer is sold as a choice or watered down to a trend,” said Croft, who played Benjamin Hope in the teen series.
“But it’s not, and exists across nature. We’re also robbed of a lot of gay history, and can easily forget how long we have been here for…I wanted to remind people with this T-shirt, that queer has not just always been here throughout human history, but almost definitely predates us. Homophobia is the newcomer.”
The campaign has so far raised £150,000 for the aforementioned organisations, prompting it to be relaunched until 6 October.
