Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer broke her silence regarding her liking and commenting on an Instagram post that criticised non-binary people.
The now-deleted post appeared to blame the non-binary community for the adoption of more conservative laws impacting trans medical rights in Florida.
The actress liked the post and left several exclamation points in the comments section.
Fans expressed their outrage at what was believed to be the 23-year-old agreeing with the content of the post.
On 6 September, Schafer uploaded a series of snaps to her Instagram and captioned the post: “bye summer see u next year.”
She then added an additional comment to the post, where she addressed the backlash she received for her previous actions.

The star wrote: “Also, while we are here- i hold absolutely no hatred towards non-binary folks.”
“I agreed with another t-girl’s post in which she pointed out an in-balance in the visibility and space-taken up between non-binary folks and binary trans women (particularly those of color and/or those who have resulted to sex work as a means of survival) that i think deserves attention/ re-evaluation (as far as resources and platforms go) within the LGBTQ+ community.”
She concluded the statement: “I am not a trans medicalist, and my ideology around transness does not align with transmedicalism, nor a disdain towards nb identifying people.”
Hunter is best known for her breakout role as Jules Vaughn in HBO hit Euphoria.
Although co-star Barbie Ferreira won’t be returning to the third season of the intense drama, Schafer is likely to reprise her role.
