Pride in London’s Gala Dinner is returning for 2019 in an effort to raise funds to keep Pride free for everyone.
Model and activist Munroe Bergdorf has been announced as keynote speaker at the event.
“Trans people of colour were at the forefront of the Stonewall Uprising and the modern Pride movement, so it’s an honour to be speaking at the Pride in London Gala Dinner in such a historic anniversary year,” she said.
“The LGBT+ community still faces a huge number of challenges – both from outside and from within – which is exactly why we need to keep speaking out, sparking conversations and making our voices heard.
“Pride must remain a space where everyone in the community can celebrate, protest and be themselves, meaning raising the funds to keep it free is now more important than ever.”
The evening will be hosted by comedian Stephen K Amos for the second year in a row, and will feature performances by Becky Hill and a DJ set by Jay Jay Revlon.
The event, which will take place Thursday 20 June 2019 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, is one of the highlights of Pride in London, which welcomes more than a million people every year.
Alex Talcer, Director of Fundraising at Pride in London, said that “the proceeds raised through our Gala Dinner each year are absolutely vital for making sure Pride in London stays free to attend”.
Guests will get to mingle with some of London’s top LGBTQ VIPs on the Pride red carpet and enjoy a four-course dinner with wine and great entertainment.
