Olympic gold medallist and former boxer Nicola Adams has announced the birth of her first child, a baby boy, with girlfriend Ella Baig.
On Instagram, Adams shared a sweet black and white photo of herself and Baig cradling their baby’s feet and a snap from the delivery bed showing the couple donned in hospital robes smiling down the camera lens.
“The first moment we laid eyes on you we felt an instant love and the strongest bond,” Adams wrote.
“We went to the moon and back to get you and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives watching you grow,” she wrote, rounding the post off with a red heart and smiling baby emoji.
Fans and supporters of the couple, alongside many of Adams’ former Strictly Come Dancing colleagues shared their congratulations for the couple in the post’s comments.
“Congratulations !!” wrote BBC presenter Clara Amfo, as did Strictly professional Jeanette Manrara.
The couple have previously opened up about their emotional journey to conceive, in an interview with Vogue.
Adams shared that the couple had previously gone through two rounds of unsuccessful IVF and suffered a miscarriage due to an undetected thyroid issue during their first pregnancy.
The couple, who began trying for a baby in 2019, shared a black and white ultrasound scan when first announcing their pregnancy back in February 2022.
Adams previously made history in 2020 as part of Strictly Come Dancing’s first same sex pairing alongside Katya Jones, although the pair were forced to pull out of the competition after Jones tested positive for COVID-19.
