Russell Tovey is engaged!
It’s bad news for fans hoping they’d eventually get a chance to sweep the hunky actor off his feet, but it’s brilliant news for him and his now-fiancé Steve Brockman, a former rugby player for the Kings Cross Steelers.
36-year-old Russell, who starred in TV shows Being Human and Looking, confirmed the ‘unexpected’ news to Digital Spy, suggesting that Steve was the one who proposed.
“Completely unexpected but very very happy and looking forward to having a proper party to celebrate when back in London,” he said.
While Russell has kept the relationship relatively low-key, the pair have occasionally shared photos of themselves on social media through their time together.

Russell first addressed his relationship back in 2016, where he told the Evening Standard that he was in the “very early days” with a new boyfriend.
He also said he would “totally” get married “when the time is right”, and when asked if he would ever have kids, he replied: “Yeah, all of it. But I’ve got my dog at the minute – he’s my everything, my sun and my moon and my mate.”
Russell is currently based in New York, where he’s filming for ABC series Quantico.
The actor recently made headlines for his role on DC Universe crossover series Crisis On Earth-X, which brought together characters from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow.
Russell played The Ray, a superhero with the ability to manipulate light who dwells on an alternate Earth where Nazis won World War II. He also just happens to be gay.
In part three of the four-part crossover – which took place during an episode of The Flash – Russell’s character The Ray shared a cute kiss with his partner, Wentworth Miller’s superhero Citizen Cold.
The scene was especially significant as not only was it a kiss between two gay superheroes on a popular primetime TV show, the characters are also both played by openly gay actors.
