Olympic gold-medallist Tom Daley has announced his return to diving, aiming for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The three-time world champion has been on a break since winning Olympic gold alongside Matty Lee in the men’s 10-metre synchro at Tokyo 2020.
Daley did not return for this year’s world championship, leading to speculation that he was planning to retire.
However, the British diver shared a video to YouTube on 29 July, announcing his return.

After a visit to the Olympic Museum in Colorado Springs, USA, he said was inspired to return to diving.
“I don’t think I was ready to be done,” he stated. “I don’t think I was ready to hang up my trunks and move on with that part of my life.”
Daley shared a touching interaction with his son, Robbie, who told him: “Papa, I want to see you dive at the Olympics.”
“That has lit a new flame and fire inside me,” said the 29-year-old. “Paris 2024 is definitely a goal.”
He hopes to “set an example” for his two sons on the value and reward of “working hard.”
The Paris 2024 Olympics are taking place between 26 July and 11 August 2024.
