Troye Sivan is not here for your inappropriate questions.
The out singer-songwriter recently took part in a Q&A interview with New Zealand’s LGBTQ publication Express, where he was asked whether he’s a “top or bottom” to which he was quoted as replying: “Ooo… definitely passing!”
In the same interview, Troye was also asked whether his boyfriend Jacob Bixenman would give him a “hall pass” to sleep with celebrity crush Shawn Mendes – who has previously denied gay rumours – and whether he thinks Justin Bieber is “hot or not”.
After a fan tweeted screenshots of the Q&A, Troye replied by calling out the interviewer for asking him “wildly invasive” and “strange” questions.
“I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question, but then i remembered how wildly invasive, strange and innapropriate [sic] that would be. Didn’t stop him though,” Troye wrote.
He later tweeted to fans: “Next time I’ll just do a Twitter Q&A.”
Last year, after releasing his queer sex anthem Bloom, Troye told LGBTQ website Them that being solely associated with his position in the bedroom would be “completely reductive”.
“Without getting into like any sort of details whatsoever, that was a song I wrote about a particular experience. I’m not branding that as myself forever. It was definitely just writing a song,” he said.
