Britney Spears has opened up about the first time she ever met Taylor Swift.
When it comes to pop icons who have made a massive impact on the music industry, it’s safe to say that the ‘Sometimes’ singer and the Evermore artist have a spot on that list.
From Spears selling over 150 million albums worldwide to Swift holding the record for most Song of the Year Grammy nominations, the two singer-songwriters have certainly left their mark in the music sphere.
While they the two talents have yet to come together for an epic collab, they have crossed paths behind the scenes.
On 11 November, Spears took a trip down memory lane when she uploaded two photos with Swift, one from 2003 and the other from 2008.
In addition to the throwback photos, the Princess of Pop reflected on the first time she ever met ‘The Archer’ talent.
“This is way back when but kinda cool… During my Oops Tour, I got a knock at my door. My good friend at the time was the assistant to my manager who was trying to become a manager himself,” she explained.
“There was a knock, and then he said, ‘I have a girl named Taylor who wants to come in and sing for you.’ I was like of course! He walks in, and she sings a beautiful song with her guitar. I was like, ‘Wow she’s unbelievable.'”
Towards the end of her story, Spears praised Swift for her talent and monumental success, describing the Midnights singer as her “girl crush.”
“We took a picture, and she then became the most iconic pop woman of our generation. Kinda cool she plays stadiums, and I prefer her videos over movies any day. She’s stunning,” the ‘Lucky’ singer added.
Shortly after Spears uploaded her post, fans flocked to social media to express their excitement over the heartwarming story.

One user on X (formerly known as Twitter) wrote: “I never thought I’d see the day where my favorite @britneyspears praises my second fav @taylorswift13, love the story she tells and love that we know the origin of the picture of them too.”
Another fan posted: “YESSSS BRITNEY KNOWS WHAT’S GOOD! LEGENDS SUPPORTING LEGENDS.”
Spears’ recent Instagram post isn’t the first time she’s praised Swift.
Back in 2015, the ‘Baby One More Time’ singer expressed her love for the ‘Call It What You Want’ singer during an interview with E! News.
“I think she’s adorable. I love her music. Her music makes me so happy. She’s very level-headed. She’s a very, very smart girl, very wise,” she said (via Billboard).
Swift has also shared kind words about Spears in the past.
While attending the 2008 MTV VMAs, the ‘Love Story’ singer praised the Blackout artist, stating: “I met her once when I was 15, and she just came off like such a sweet person, and I want her to win.”
Swift also complimented Spears’ laugh in 2019 while speaking to Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s heaven. It’s like a summer’s day. And it makes you so happy. You wish you were there laughing with her and having a party,” she said.
