Brace yourselves, Halsey fans! The pop superstar has announced their long-awaited music comeback.
On 14 September, the ‘Bad At Love’ singer took to Instagram to share a life update with their 31.9 million followers.
Alongside a wholesome set of photos and videos, Halsey included a cryptic caption, seemingly teasing their upcoming fifth album.
“Not pictured: me splitting myself in two everyday so that I can give you my deepest wounds (and a handful of perfect joys) for the 5th time in 10 years,” they wrote.
In response to Halsey’s mysterious post, fans swarmed their comment section to express excitement over the music news.
One fan wrote: “And for the fifth time, I will be grateful & split my heart open to absorb it all. Love u.”
Another fan commented: “We appreciate you so much. Take your time, can’t wait to hear what you have in store for us.”
Halsey’s recent post comes a few months after they opened up about the new record’s boundless sound.
“As of right now I’m approaching it kinda how I approached Manic. No strict genre parameters or anything. Just making what feels good and what hits home,” they explained to a fan on Twitter.
“Definitely some of my best songwriting. A lot of life has happened to me since I wrote IICHLIWP.”
Halsey’s highly anticipated fifth album is also set to be their first release under their new Columbia Records contract.
Back in April, Variety revealed that the ‘Without Me’ singer left Capitol Records to pursue a “new partnership”.
In a statement, Halsey’s managers – Jason Aron and Anthony Li – described the news as “bittersweet”.

“After eight great years, the decision to leave Capitol is bittersweet, but we are excited about exploring a new partnership and sharing new music with fans,” the duo wrote.
Capital Records echoed similar sentiments in their own statement.
“Everyone at Capitol poured their hearts and souls into helping Halsey achieve their dreams and present their music to the world,” they said.
“We are incredibly proud of all we accomplished together, and wish Halsey the very best in all their future endeavours.”
A year before their departure, Halsey revealed to fans that they were unhappy with Capitol Records due to the label stalling the release of ‘So Good’.
“Basically I have a song that I love and I wanna release ASAP, but my record label won’t let me,” they explained via a TikTok video.
“I’ve been in this industry for eight years, and I’ve sold over 165 million records, and my record company is saying I can’t release [the song] unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok.”
After a week of pushback, Capitol Records released a statement expressing their “love and support” for Halsey and confirming the song’s release date for 9 June 2022.
We can’t wait to see what’s in store for Halsey’s fifth studio album.
