Keanan has released the music video for Country Boy, his brand new song which details his journey as an artist breaking into the music industry.
The track is inspired by his hometown of Cheltenham and sees the up and coming artist experiment with drill-inspired melodies.
“Country Boy is the type of track that I have wanted to create for years but never found the right words to say,” he explained ahead of the music video premiering on GAY TIMES.
“Being from the countryside, trying to break into the industry is tough. And I always saw it as a negative, a disadvantage.
“But with my recent successes with TikTok and other opportunities, I realised that it makes me different and I should be proud of my hometown. It’s energetic, fast-paced and unapologetic in more ways than one.”
It serves as the lead single from his upcoming EP, Exhibit Green, which is slated for a 26 August release.
Like Country Boy, the record is inspired by Keanan’s life in the countryside and will see him explore themes such as anxiety, self-acceptance, growth and heartbreak.
On 14 August, he will take to the stage at UK Black Pride, an experience which he described as “a blessing”.
“As an openly gay, mixed race boy from the countryside, I didn’t always feel represented or seen,” he continued. “I’m so excited to celebrate greatness and shine with my community.”
Each year, UK Black Pride chooses a theme to represent its annual event, with ‘power’ being at the core in 2022.
