Happy Pride, bisexuals – we have a new bicon amongst our ranks!

The singer-songwriter Maren Morris has just shared a new post celebrating her identity. Posting to Instagram on Sunday 9 June, the musician wrote: “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ happy pride 🌈” she wrote.

The message was posted alongside a series of images of Maren performing during a show from her RSVP Redux tour in Phoenix, Arizona. In some of the images she can be seen holding and waving a Pride flag.

The comments section of the post were flooded with congratulatory messages. Among the happy comments was a message from indie folk singer Allison Ponthier wrote; “HAPPY PRIDE!!!!! thanks for being an inspiration and what a special pride this one is 🏳️‍🌈🤍”.

Other well-wishers included Nashville singer-songwriter Kate Yeager, who wrote: “WE ❤️ MAREN!! Proud of you!! Happy pride girlie ❤”.

Before coming out, Maren has been a vocal ally to the queer community throughout her career in country-pop.

In 2022, she called out the wife of the country singer Jason Aldean for transphobic comments, commenting: “It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie.”

The news comes following Maren filing for divorce from her husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.

The former couple began dating in 2015, married in 2018 and welcomed their son Hayes, now four years old, in March 2020.

Congratulations to Maren for sharing her news with the world – and happy Pride!
