Netflix has confirmed that the eighth season of the Spanish sensation hit Elité will be its last.
On Wednesday (18 October), the streamer announced via Twitter/X that Elité has been renewed for an eighth and final season – and that season seven will premiere this Friday (20 October).

Production on season eight of Netflix’s longest-running Spanish fictional series started last August. It will be directed by Daniel Barone, Ginesta Guindal, Jota Linares and Elena Trapé.
Ane Rot (Killer Book Club) and Nuna Gallego (UPA Next) have joined the cast as new characters, while Mina El Hammani will reprise her role of Nadia.
El Hammani joined the series in its inaugural season as one of three characters who transferred to Las Encinas, the most exclusive private school in Madrid, alongside Samuel García Domínguez (Itzan Escamilla) and Christian Varela Expósito (Miguel Herrán).
Nadia departed Elité in season four to attend university in New York, while – spoiler alert – Samuel was killed and Christian was transferred to a Switzerland hospital after being deliberately hit with a car.
Show creator Carlos Montero spoke of the finale in a press conference to promote the new season, where he said: “We are shooting the eighth season, which will be the last season of Élite. We ended on a high note.
“Jaime [Vaca, co-showrunner for Season 7], Netflix and I thought it was time to end it. I say this with great regret because it’s been several incredible years in which I’ve met wonderful actors, we’ve worked with all the directors we wanted to work with and we’ve had the luxury of having Maribel these last two seasons.
“Élite changed everyone’s life, there are actors who started with us and it has been their springboard to be now world stars, it is happening to this cast and it is a pride to have contributed to that and to know that they have seen us all over the world and liked it.”
The first six seasons of Elité are streaming now on Netflix, with seven landing on the 20 October.
