Voguing competition series Legendary has been called by HBO Max after three seasons, leaving fans devastated.
The show was consistently praised for its diversity and inclusivity, with GLAAD highlighting that it platformed queer and trans artists “from the New York ballroom scene.”
Each episode sees a group of voguing houses, all made up of five performers and a leader called the house mother, take part in a competition that documents a themed ball.
Through discussions about their inspiring backstories and history, viewers learn more about the performers as the episodes progress.
Legendary was fronted by MC Dashaun Wesley with judges Leiomy Maldonado, Jameela Jamil, Law Roach and Megan Thee Stallion.
Since news of its cancellation broke, fans have been taking to social media to share their disappointment.
“Legendary getting cancelled before giving us an All Stars season is my villain origin story,” one wrote on Twitter.
Another said: “Legendary being cancelled is making emotional bc that show was absolutely everything.”
A third added: “I fucking loved this show so of course it’d be cancelled. It was an amazing show full of incredibly talented POC, many of them trans and in a variety of body sizes. Goddamn it.”

So @hbomax cancelled Legendary and I am devastated. I hope another studio picks them up because this show has been such a celebration of the queer communities of color.
