Music superstar Kehlani is set to guest star on the third season of The L Word: Generation Q.

Back in 2019, Showtime released the highly anticipated revival of the groundbreaking lesbian drama.

Taking place 10 years after the events of The L World series finale, the reboot follows Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) and Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) as they navigate new career paths and the queer scene in LA.

The acclaimed series has also introduced viewers to a bevvy of new queer characters, including Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Sarah Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) and Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas).

Over the course of two seasons, the “sequel” series has earned praise from old and new fans.

Due to its immense popularity, Showtime renewed the series for a third season earlier this year.

While details regarding the new batch of episodes have remained under wraps, fans can expect at least one high-profile guest star.

On 28 July, openly queer superstar Kehlani took to Instagram and revealed that they’d be featured in the forthcoming season.

“From bingeing @sho_thelword to guest starring on #TheLWord. See you for Season 3,” the acclaimed singer wrote alongside on-set photos.

Shortly after the news was announced, fans took to social media to share their excitement about her inclusion.

One fan wrote: “first Megan Rapinoe then Kehlani being on The L word generation q yeah they’re doing this for me fr.”

Another user tweeted: “Kehlani guest starring on the l word is more than I could have ever asked for, I can’t wait.”

Even some of the series’ stars have praised Kehlani’s involvement, including Toboni, who commented on the singer’s Instagram post: “Officially crowned the most gay.”

Jillian Mercado, who plays Maribel, added: “They aren’t READY.”

Kehlani’s inclusion in season 3 comes a year after they expressed an interest in guest starring on the show.

After binge-watching the series in July 2021, the singer took to social media and wrote: “I would just like to say… I would like to be a part of [The L Word] in some way, shape or form. Cmon, call me Zaddy.”

The L Word: Generation Q season 3 is expected to premiere later this year.
