Love Island USA star Courtney Boerner has opened up about her bisexuality.
Back in July, the reality TV star made waves when she became the third openly queer person to be featured in the popular dating series.
Ahead of the show’s premiere on 19 July, Peacock shared “fun facts” about the 24-year-old, including details regarding her bisexuality.
“Celeb crushes: Keanu Reeves, Michael B. Jordan, Will Smith and James Franco. Hates bad breath more than anything… keep it minty people! Has had 19 plastic surgeries. Could not live without her jewellery… or her vibrator! Loves a great personality and has dated both men and women,” she said.
Before Boerner’s inclusion, the show had never highlighted an OG islander’s sexuality before its premiere episode.
With Love Island USA season four officially over, the young influencer opened up about her identity in a new interview with PRIDE.
When asked about her labels, Boerner told the news outlet that she “definitely” identified as bisexual.
“I also think there’s a difference between actually being interested in girls and finding them attractive,” she said.
“I feel like a lot of girls are like bisexual, but to actually be down to date a woman and share your life on a romantic level with a woman… it is different than wanting to make out and wanting to hook up once or twice, you know what I mean?”

She went on to describe her past romantic relationships with women as “some of the deepest and most amazing connections” she’s ever had in her life.
Towards the end of the interview, Boerner opened up about the moment that sparked her coming out journey.
“My first best friend that I made in high school was bisexual. We were having a sleepover at her house and she tried to hook up with me, and I was like ”Woah, I wasn’t even thinking about this,” she explained.
“Through time, I developed feelings for her, but I didn’t really realise what was happening. I fell in love with her, and I realised that I was bisexual through that [experience].
“And we would hold hands in the hallway, and people would be like, ”Lesbians!” and we’d be like ”F*ck yeah, we are!” So, it was a fun first bisexual romantic experience, and I love her so much.”
In an additional interview with Page Six, Boerner expressed her hope for more bi representation in Love Island moving forward.
“Incorporating more bi-contestants would be really interesting. I think that would be cool because I would have loved to have more women who were openly a part of the community in there,” she explained.
Over the years, the Love Island franchise has received significant backlash for its lack of wider representation regarding the LGBTQ+ community.
However despite massive pushback from viewers, producers for the UK series revealed that gay contestants are unlikely to appear on the show due to “logistical difficulties.”
