Married at First Sight UK’s upcoming season will make history with the introduction of the show’s first-ever openly transgender contestant.
Ella, a clinic consultant from Weston-Super-Mare, will be one of 16 singletons getting hitched just moments after seeing their future spouse for the first time.
“This experiment is so much more than just me getting married,” the 29-year-old said of the show. “I see this as a big deal for someone who has transitioned.”
Production described Ella as “a blonde bombshell with a sense of humour and heart of gold”.
She currently lives with her grandmother and stated that their bond is “the dynamic duo everyone needs in their life”.
Married at First Sight UK has been making an effort to be increasingly diverse, with Matt Jameson and Daniel McKee previously becoming its first gay couple.
