Sex Education creator Laurie Nunn has commented on a possible spin-off.
Back in July, Nunn revealed that the show’s upcoming fourth season would be its last.
“We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and feel indebted to our brilliant writers, cast and crew who put so much heart into making every episode,” she wrote in a letter to fans.
“They have worked tirelessly to bring you the final series, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”
Before releasing her emotional letter, Ncuti Gatwa, who is set to take on the title role in ‘Doctor Who’, and Emma Mackey announced that the fourth season would mark their final appearances in Sex Education.
With the final season of the series set for release in September, Nunn opened up to Netflix Tudum about the possibility of a spin-off or continuation series.
“I’m definitely taking a break and thinking about other things. But Moordale is a really rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun,” she explained.
“So, I think that there’s always potential for more to be explored in that world.”
Elsewhere in her interview, the British screenwriter also shared details about the new batch of episodes – which pick up a couple of months after the events of the season three.

“Maeve is in America, which is where we left her on the bus, going off to study. The Moordale Secondary students are starting at a new school called Cavendish College, which his very different from Moordale,” she revealed.
Nunn went on to reveal that the fourth season is set to feature an array of new characters, including a new popular group called “the Coven” and a sex therapist rival for Asa Butterfield’s character Otis.
Lastly, the 37-year-old writer announced that the show will explore “the idea of failure” and identity.
“We’re exploring identity, and our characters are really grappling with the idea of identity and acceptance. With that, mental health goes hand in hand,” she added.
“We wanted to explore different facets of mental health, whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression or loneliness. It’s really important to be able to vocalize it and to ask for help.”
In addition to Butterfield, Mackey and Gatwa, the final season of Sex Education will see the return of Connor Swindells as Adam Groff, Aimee-Lou Wood as Aimee Gibbs, Kedar Williams-Stirling as Jackson Marchetti, Dua Saleh as Cal Bowman, Mimi Keene as Ruby Matthews, Chineye Ezeudu as Viv Odusanya, George Robinson as Isaac Goodwin, Alistair Petrie as Michael Groff and Samantha Spiro as Maureen Groff.
Dan Levy, Jodie Turner Smith, Thaddea Graham, Lisa McGrillis, Marie Reuther, Thaddea Graham. and Eshaan Akbar have also joined the cast.
