Sex Education star Patricia Allison has revealed that she won’t be returning to the hit series for season 4.

Over the course of three seasons, the popular teen dramedy has earned critical acclaim for its LGBTQ+ characters and fresh storylines regarding sex and relationships.

The series has also received numerous BAFTA TV Award nominations, including Best Male Comedy Performance for Ncuti Gatwa and Best Female Comedy Performance for Aimee Lou Wood.

Back in September, the streamer announced that the students of Moordale would be returning for another season.

However, not all the characters from the acclaimed series are set to return.

In a recent interview with Capital Xtra, Allison – who played Ola Nyman – revealed that her time on the show has come to an end.

“I absolutely have loved being on Sex Education so, so much, playing Ola. But unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for season four,” she said.

“I’m so sorry to have to break that to you guys but umm, I’m just going to be doing some other little things, some other opportunities have come up.

“So, I’ve been doing it for three years and I’ve, like, genuinely loved it.”

Even though her decision to leave was bittersweet, the 27-year-old told the news outlet that she was excited about the future.

“I love the show. [But you] have to say goodbye sometimes, which is kind of sad. But other things are coming,” she added.

Allison’s character first made her debut in season 1 as a love interest for the show’s lead character Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield).

However after encountering numerous roadblocks – including their respective parents dating and Otis’ residual feelings for Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey) – the two called it quits.

After breaking things off with Otis, Ola explored her pansexual identity and started a new relationship with fellow classmate Lily Iglehart (Tanya Reynolds).

Even though Allison’s time at Moordale is ending, viewers can expect to see an array of actors return to the popular series, including Butterfield, Gatwa, Reynolds, Mackey, Wood, Gillian Anderson, Connor Swindells, Dua Saleh, Chaneil Kular, Sami Outalbali and more.
