She-Hulk star Ginger Gonzaga has confirmed that her character identifies as queer.

Since August, Marvel fans have flocked to Disney+ to watch the critically acclaimed She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series.

The show follows Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a single lawyer and the cousin of Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), as she navigates her 30s and newly acquired Hulk abilities.

Since the series dropped, MCU enthusiasts have praised She-Hulk for its creative story and Maslany’s portrayal of the green superhero.

Recently, the series has garnered the attention of LGBTQ+ viewers after Jen’s best friend/paralegal Nikki Ramos (Gonzaga) described “hetero life” as “grim” in the fourth episode.

Over the last few days, fans on social media have been eager to find out if Nikki is canonically part of the LGBTQ+ community.

One fan tweeted: “Wow, Nikki Ramos is the Willow to She-Hulk’s Buffy.”

Another fan wrote: “Hold awn… IS NIKKI QUEER?!!?!? “HETERO LIFE IS GRIM” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN.”

Fortunately for viewers, Gonzaga confirmed that Nikki is, in fact, queer in a new interview with TV Line.

“I wish that we got to more. Nikki is definitely queer, she’s free, she’ll love anyone. I thought of her initially as being bi, because I’m kind of projecting myself onto this character,” she explained.

“But in truth I think Nikki will love anyone – and she can hang with anyone, which is fun. She can hang with villains, and she can all of a sudden convince them to get on her side.

“She can charm herself out of any situation. There are no rules for Nikki, which is a nice balance with Jen Walters.”

Towards the end of her interview, Gonzaga expressed her hopes for the future regarding Nikki’s dating life.

“I wish we got to see her dating more. But I will say she has a bit of a secret crush on Mallory (Renée Elise Goldsberry), which we’ll see,” she said.

“Nikki doesn’t have any problems dating, so we’re trying to focus on what needs to happen, which is getting Jen to love herself in both forms and finally going on some decent dates.”
