The L Word: Generation Q has been axed by Showtime after three seasons just two months after its latest instalment came to an end.
The beloved franchise could continue, as a reboot of the original series (currently operating under the working title The L Word: New York) is in development with its creator, Ilene Chaiken, believed to be involved in some capacity, Deadline reported.
No series from the network has been renewed since an announcement in January that it will be integrated into Paramount+ later this year and renamed Paramount+ with Showtime.
The L Word: Generation Q premiered in 2019 and followed the lives of an LGBTQ+ group of friends living in Los Angeles as they navigate love, heartbreak, personal growth and the world of work.

The series is set 10 years after the original came to an end and saw Jennifer Beals reprise her role as Bette Porter-Kennard, with Kate Moennig also returning as Shane McCutcheon.
Fans of The L Word: Generation Q have been sharing their distress at the series coming to an end on social media.
One said: “What do you mean they cancelled The L Word Gen Q???? No thank you??? Reinstate it at once? And then ALSO do the New York spin off.”

“L Word just got cancelled this is the worst day of my fucking life,” another wrote.
“JUST WOKE UP AND FOUND OUT THE L WORD GOT CANCELLED ??????????????????????????????????? WHY DO LESBIANS KEEP LOSING LIKE THIS WHY DO YOU HATE US SO MUCH FFSSSSSSSSS,” a third fan tweeted.
