Bella Ramsey has shared her excitement over the lesbian relationship storyline which is expected to take place in The Last of Us’ second season.
The post-apocalyptic series has, so far, mostly stuck to the storyline from the video game it is based on.
If this theme continues, the upcoming season could use the game’s sequel as source material and feature a storyline where Ramsey’s character, Ellie, is in a relationship with her companion, Dina.
In the game, the duo begin a quest for revenge across Seattle, Jackson and Santa Barbara, something Ramsey is keen to explore.
“I’m really excited, to be honest, for the Ellie/ Dina story,” the actor explained on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast.
“I’ve watched a cut together, someone’s made a phenomenal – I don’t know how they do it – like an amazing edit of just the gameplay, like Ellie and Dina’s love story. So I’m excited to play that out.”

The star also discussed the bond between Ellie and Joel (played by Pedro Pascal in the TV series), which has become strained after a five-year time jump between the events of the first and second game.
Ramsey said she was excited to explore “the complexity of her relationship with Joel and how that gets decidedly more complex, and I’m looking forward to that. And the violence that ensues is thrilling in a way, to get to maybe explore that in a really safe environment. It will be cool. But I am nervous about it too.”
She concluded that it is going to be “really sad” which, after the events of the first season, isn’t hard to imagine.
The Last of Us will be returning for a second season
The Last of Us was recently renewed for a second season by HBO.
So far, the show has received near universal acclaim – boasting a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes alone.
