“They’re giving the gays everything!”: Fans go wild for campy Agatha All Along trailer

A new trailer for Agatha All Along has arrived, and fans are going absolutely wild.

On 9 August, the 2024 D23 panel kicked off in Anaheim, California – which features new previews from some of Disney, Pixar and Marvel Entertainment’s biggest TV shows and movies.

During day one of the three-day entertainment extravaganza, Marvel wasted no time giving fans exciting content, like the action-packed and campy new trailer for Agatha All Along.

At the start of the video, we see Agatha (played by Kathryn Hahn) walking in the forest as her iconic theme song plays in the background.

“Agatha, the covenless witch,” Joe Locke’s “Teen“ character says in a voiceover.

As she continues to walk deeper into the foliage, scenes of her demise in WandaVision flash across the screen before Teen asks what really happened to her.

It then transitions to a bell clang before the show’s haunting original song, ‘The Ballad of the Witches Road,‘ plays in the background.

“She took every little bit of power I had. I’m assembling a coven. We gotta get back on top. I’m gonna walk the road; join me,“ Agatha ominously states as different members of her makeshift coven appear.

“The Witches Road will give you the thing you want most. If you make it to the end,“ Teen states. However, Patti Lupone’s character, Lilia Calderu, isn’t so convinced, describing the idea as a “death wish”.

Towards the end of the trailer, Agatha reveals that the Witches Road will test them on their knowledge of the craft, which results in her ragtag coven asking how they’ll endure the trial without magic.

“We survive like witches have been doing for centuries,“ she exclaims.

In addition to the aforementioned moments, the trailer offered exciting new footage of the show’s various magical elements, Aubrey Plaza’s mischievous character, Rio Vidal, and several terrifying demonic entities.

Of course, the D23 exclusive preview was an immediate hit with fans, who rushed to social media to express their excitement for the new series.

One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Pleading the 5th on how many times I’ve watched this trailer.“

Another fan echoed similar sentiments, writing: “Can’t wait. Loved her in WandaVision. Still hope Agatha brings Wanda back. These 2 need to interact.“

A third fan added: “This one is for the witchy girlies and the gays.”

Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait too long for Agatha All Along, with the series’ two-episode premiere scheduled for 19 September in the UK on Disney Plus.

The synopsis reads: “The infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell.

“Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…”

In addition to Hahn, Locke, LuPone and Plaza, the show is set to star Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp, Sasheer Zamata, Maria Dizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Okwui Okpokwasili.
