Standing tall on West 28th Street amongst New York City’s famous flower market, Moxy Chelsea is a must-stay for the modern traveler. It’s not always easy to find yourself a hotel in the Big Apple that boasts incredible views, stylish interiors, an abundance of amenities, and still be reasonably priced – but Moxy Chelsea will give you a memorable experience without having to break the bank.
As guests arrive they are greeted by the Flower Shop, allowing the entrance to blend in with the floral history of the surrounding area. Just next to it is the Café d’Avignon Popup at Feroce Caffé, buzzing with young creatives and city-dwellers grabbing their morning oat flat white and pastries. Before you’ve even checked in, there’s at least a handful of Instagrammable moments to be captured amongst this boutique setting.
But this is boutique on a major scale. The hotel towers over New York City with its 350 bedrooms, cafes, bars and restaurants, all impeccably designed for that modern premium feel with plenty of personality. Inspiration is drawn from Italian interiors, while maintaining that classic New York City style. Bar Feroce on the second-floor lobby is the perfect space for an evening cocktail, but during the day can be utilised as a relaxing space for coffee if you need to catch up on some emails. There’s a selection of small plates available too, from olives and salads, to burgers and roasted salmon.
If you get the elevator right up to the 35th floor, you enter The Fleur Room where the party can really get started. With 360° views of Manhattan and a huge disco ball, the space is the ultimate rooftop lounge experience to try out the cocktail menu with good music into the early hours as the city’s lights shine bright around you.
The chic interiors carry through into the bedrooms, where compact space is used to its full potential. We stayed in a King View, with the floor to ceiling windows displaying the city skyline in all its metropolitan splendour. The natural light pours into the room through the day, which is the greatest ointment for any jet lag sluggishness in the mornings. If you want to feel like you are in New York City from the minute you wake up to the moment your head hits the pillow, this spectacular view gives you a front row seat to one of the greatest cities on Earth.
At 190 square feet in size, the King View packs a lot in. A huge king sized bed will make sure you get a comfortable night’s sleep, while a 43” flat screen HDTV with free access to streaming apps is there if you want it. The walk-in rain shower brings some luxury to the room, with all of the fixtures and fittings evoking classic NYC styling. There’s all the other useful offerings too, including USB and power outlets, free Wi-Fi, easy to control air con, a clothes steamer and hair dryer.
Once you venture out of the hotel, Moxy Chelsea is perfectly situated to explore some of New York City’s most iconic locations. From Madison Square Park just around the corner and Penn Station just up the road, to access to The High Line and Chelsea Market a short walk away. It’s also nicely placed in the middle of Manhattan, should you want to venture north to Times Square and Central Park, or venture south to Greenwich Village. With great public transport connections everything is a short journey away.
From stylish bedrooms with jaw-dropping views to relaxing bars and cafes, Moxy Chelsea blends the boutique experience with all the offerings of a larger lifestyle hotel sophistication. With great customer service, comfortable surroundings and easy access to all corners of New York City, it’s one of Manhattan’s finest places to stay.
