Nestled in one of the most charming residential neighbourhoods in Manhattan, Smyth Tribeca sits steps from the best dining, art galleries, boutique shopping, parks and cultural attractions, providing the perfect backdrop to rediscover New York City. GT particularly enjoyed being able to walk as the Smyth is well located to all the go-to Downtown, Tribeca and Chelsea neighbourhood spots.
Smyth Tribeca’s distinctly residential vibe combines simplicity and style with timeless modern touches, exuding warmth that is emblematic of a home-away-from-home.
The beautiful yet understated lobby and entrance was minimally designed in order to give precedence and focus to The Smyth Tavern, a restaurant we quickly realised was popular with the locals which is always an extremely positive sign; the food was exceptional, particularly the Smyth Burger with perfectly done angus beef and bacon onion jam and the house made mafaldine with uni butter and fresh maine lobster. This is absolutely not one to miss!
For those looking for a bit of excitement but not looking to venture far beyond the hotel walls, the Smyth’s Galerie bar is always buzzing with life on Thursday and Friday nights, giving visitors the perfect night out without the hustle and bustle (or a great place to pregame in style with friends!)
All of Smyth’s well-appointed guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious marble bathrooms and views of lower Manhattan. The rooms are modern and incredibly clean and also feature significant natural daylight – a bonus for NYC as some hotels can look onto backstreets or dark alleyways. It was such a highlight to see the whole neighbourhood from our room.
For those seeking ample room, guests can indulge in one of Smyth Tribeca’s expansive 16 suites. The Penthouse offers 1,200 square feet of indoor space equipped with a full kitchen, living and dining room, two bathrooms, master bedroom and a show-stopping 800-square-foot terrace.
A favourite of ours by far were the warm and welcoming staff which gave the hotel a real homely feel. The Smyth does an excellent job at opening the gateway to charming Tribeca, allowing guests to explore all it has to offer whilst also creating such a calm and exciting atmosphere that makes it impossible to leave.
GT recommends the Smyth Tribeca for business queers on the go!
